Beginning

Our Story

Vrsna Chocolates grew from a family business, a passion for food and the desire to create something of our own. Founded by the Reizl family in Zagreb, Croatia, Vrsna emerged from experience in the food industry dating back to 2002 and a new ambition: to create premium Croatian chocolate with a distinctive identity. In 2017, that vision became Vrsna Chocolates.

Inspiration

Rooted yet always inspired

The name Vrsna embodies our pursuit of excellence and character, an ancient Croatian word inspired by the timeless wisdom and dignity of the virtuous woman. We combine carefully selected cocoa from around the world with flavours rooted in Croatia; from figs, lavender and carob to honey, hazelnuts, sour cherries, raspberries and oranges. The result is chocolate inspired by the world, yet unmistakably Croatian.

From the very beginning, we have crafted our chocolates with close attention to every detail, and we continue along the same path today. From tempering and moulding to decorating and packaging, many stages of production are completed by hand. This dedication to the chocolatier’s craft has become part of the Vrsna legacy, allowing us to create chocolates with a distinctive character, where tradition, creativity and the human touch are visible in every piece.

Recent Successes

We are incredibly proud to have our dedication to quality recognized on a global stage. In 2021 and 2022, our dark and milk varieties—were honored at the Great Taste Awards. These achievements represent a major milestone for our family business and inspire us to continue crafting award-winning chocolate for the world to enjoy.
